The Domus de Janas, or Fairy Houses, are caves dug into the rock in ancient past (pre-nuragic era) in Sardinia and used as tombs.
In particular these names come from tradition; according to popular beliefs, the small rooms dug in the rock was inhabited by fairies. Historians have rather discovered and confirmed the use of these cavities as tombs, in which the deceased were placed in a fetal position.
These sepulchres are widespread all over the island; in fact, in some places single tombs were found, in others structured necropolises.
