Nuraghe Izzana, set in the rolling countryside of Aggius, is one of the island’s most imposing single-tower nuraghi. Its massive structure – built well over 3,500 years ago using enormous granite blocks – dominates the surrounding landscape like an ancient guardian.
A monument that has spanned the millennia
This structure boasts well over three millennia of history.
The tower, still almost intact today, is over ten meters tall and retains its main entrance facing south. InInside, a tall and evocative chamber opens up, where light filters through the upper opening, creating an almost mystical atmosphere.

There is a second entrance on the north side, in the upper part of the nuraghe.

Our visit: among meadows and rocks, scents and quiet
The road to the nuraghe is an integral part of the experience: a country road with a few rough patches. It’s easily passable with almost any car, but it’s not recommended for vehicles with very low clearance or stiff suspension.
You pass through typical Gallura landscapes: on the Valle della Luna plateau, we find ourselves surrounded by wind-sculpted boulders, vast meadows, fields, and shrubs.
As we approach, the nuraghe appears almost suddenly, solitary and perfectly nestled in the landscape.
Walking around the structure makes us feel small in the face of its grandeur… The visit is brief but intense: just a short time is enough to feel the weight of its millennia-old history.
Here you can admire the vast panoramas, with hills and mountains surrounding the verdant plain; and you can smell the scent of cut grass, the light breath of the wind, whose gusts break the majestic silence of this place.
