Nature and art in the Monti Crastu park

Monti Crastu parc

The Monti Crastu Park, near Serrenti in the Campidano region, represents an extraordinary example of environmental recovery and creativity. It is a unique place of its kind, where nature, art and culture blend perfectly.
Born from the vision of an inhabitant of Serrenti, Angelo Lisci, who, with the help of his wife Rita, in recent decades wanted to create this park on an abandoned quarry; today we find ourselves in front of a green oasis, a place of beauty and serenity, open to all at any time of the day.

The park is located on the northern slope of the hill known as Monti Crastu, near Serrenti. A nuraghe was built on the top of the relief.
We reach this place on an early spring evening and begin our exploration…

Welcome to Monti Crastu

From the main access point, we reach a large and characteristic square, which collects numerous artistic works: sculptures and small stone reconstructions, between dry stone walls and lush plants.
The vegetation is rich and varied; some areas used as a garden and botanical garden contain plants of various types, wild and medicinal herbs.

We then see some traditional benches and huts, surrounded by many decorations, which make the place particularly welcoming and suggestive.

The intense scents, carried by a light wind, invite us to walk along the paths that climb the hill.
Each path offers us surprises scattered here and there in nature… Small sculptures, poetic writings or proverbs on the stones and even a mural on the remains of a wall that harks back to Sardinian tradition.

Water elements

A fundamental element in the park is water, not only as a source of supply for the various plants. Small lakes, streams and fountains are scattered in various points of the park and are enriched by artistic and natural elements.

The history of Sardinia

The works in the park are mostly recently made, including various reconstructions that recall Sardinian history, alongside the remains of the ancient nuraghe on the top of the hill.
The reconstruction of a sacred well, the huts and the stone walls surround us and take us to a place where time seems to have stopped…

Footpath with panorama

Walking on the slope of the hill, you can admire the views, with the view that expands on the surrounding plain and the reliefs in the distance.
We gradually reach some observation points, which seem perfectly made for a short stop to contemplate the landscape.
